Your Favorite Rascal Reads of 2018

As the year comes to a close, I’ve been inspired by other long-time content creators like Kara from Politics of Pretty and the Purse Blog team to reflect back on the most popular fashion & beauty posts that I published this year. Not only is this type of recap a refresher on what you’ve loved most, but it provides a wonderful sense of accomplishment at a time of year when it can be easy to diminish our own highlight reels.

Coming in at #5 is a review of the first Colourpop palette I’ve ever purchased: the KathleenLights x Colourpop Dream Street 12 color eyeshadow palette. Months later, I still reach for this release for its rich mixture of textures and beautiful color story. My love of this collaboration even evolved into a purchase of the accompanying lip color trio, which I have also continued to love. If you love rose golds, teal, or Kathleen, I recommend picking this up collection up on your next trip to Ulta.
Although the internet never forgets, it seems that Reformation willfully chose to ignore the coverage of Ali Tate Cutler’s fat-shaming comments when they partnered with her for the launch of the brand’s first plus size collection. To my knowledge, the brand never commented on the model’s behavior and customers didn’t seem deterred based on the affiliate commissions this post generated. I’d say I’m surprised, but the fashion industry has gotten away with (and will continue to get away with) this type of questionable behavior because we allow them to do so.
I’m delighted that my comprehensive overview of newly launched affordable vegan & cruelty-free brand Undone Beauty is my third most popular post this year not only because I put so much time & effort into creating this post, but also because modeling for the brand’s launch is a highlight of my career. The products are interesting, innovative, and I can’t wait to see what they release next (I have a review on their latest products coming soon)!
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is one of my all-time favorite TV shows and although I love the dialogue, I could watch every episode on mute because the costume designers have completely stolen my heart. Although I’m sure the coats that I recommended in this story are now sold out, I still regularly dream of owning the plus size equivalent of Midge’s wardrobe. A follow-up post inspired by the vacation wear of season two is in the future!
And coming in at #1, a post inspired by the many hours I spent wandering around Boots & Superdrug during my six months in England in 2017. Although my time in the UK was extremely stressful, I found comfort combing the aisles for hidden gems and new releases.  There are still items I purchased during my time there, most notably the Bourjouis blushes, La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5, and the Maybelline Dr. Rescue Nail Polish Remover, that I treasure. If you have a friend traveling to the UK, be sure to send them this post as a starter shopping list.
